Macallan Cask Strength Matured in selected Sherry oak casks from Spain and bottled at original cask strength, without the addition of water. An exceptionally rich Single Malt, best enjoyed with a splash of water. To release the complex aromas and sumptuous flavors (Intense, Sherry, Oak, Long). Macallan Cask Strength is one of Scotland’s most famous distilleries, and produces one of the world’s biggest-selling single malt whiskies. Situated on the banks of the Spey river in the heart of Speyside, the distillery is based at Easter Elchies estate, which covers 158 hectares (390 acres) of farmland. The estate includes 37 ha (90 acres) planted to barley, which is used in the production of the whisky. A new distillery building with a visitor center was opened on the property in June 2018. There are now 12 wash stills, plus 24 spirit stills. Production is set to increase by one third.

Macallan Cask Strength Sherry Cask Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Thick, rich stewed plums and raisins covered in molasses, dark chocolate covered coffee beans, charred oak, a worn leather chair in a musty library where cigars were enjoyed the night before – yeah, that kind of depth.

Palate: Thick and viscous, intense dark fruit – mincemeat pie that went easy on the cinnamon, some pepper edge that gives way to hints of nutmeg and a faint whisper of anise.

Finish: Long and lingering, with fruit, hints of chocolate and pepper spice.
